Twitter can be used to grab the attention of followers with the 280 characters maximum, while also providing The hyperlink to a full article with details. Hashtags that are most frequently used on Twitter are put into the top 10 or 20 hashtag list or placed under “trending topics.” Donald Trump, is a person who is always in the trending topic list due to his events, the way he articulates himself and his role as president of United States. Twitter provided news on any of Trump's speeches and events with videos with sources and videos as well. Twitter also acts as a platform for people to tweet and responded to tweets to have an open discussion on the matter, many people provide opinions on the subject matter that are often screenshot, and shown on other platforms such as Tumblr Instagram Snapchat etc. to further discuss what is at hand.
Twitter is often set ablaze during the time of social events such as award shows. The 60th Grammy awards was plastered all over Twitter during January 28 and the days after. People talked about the runway looks, people they wanted to win, and the performances. As a microblogging platform, many communicating on the results of the show many felt like performances were great and also believe the artist such as “SZA” was cheated. Tweeting “why nominate her when you know you don’t want her,” in reference to the song Love Galore on her debut album which has been considered a tremendous success. In this case there is no real failure SZA and those like her may not have won, but still gain positive results from simply being nominated. A failure may be that although many people tweeted against the Grammys decision, it is already set in stone and decision does not change.
Astrology is something that everyone can relate to whether they believe it or not. Everyone has a sun sign, a moon sign, and a ascendant sign. Therefore with a topic such as astrology to base 10 tweets from, it would make sense to follow other Twitter pages that relate to astrology. The Twitter page Astrology Zone provides very specific detailing on astrology, the different planets that involve astrology, the planets when they are in renegade, and all the specific scientific aspects of astrology that we often do not pay attention to. The Twitter page Virgo nation is a Twitter page dedicated specifically to people who identify with the Virgo sign. All the tweets on that page relate to Virgos and also is done in a more informal way of tweeting oppose to astrology zone. Although different and similar, these pages provide different views of astrology. The third page followed was the national hockey team of the United States. This page was chosen because this assignment asked to follow a page, that the student would normally never follow or have interest in. With an extremely low interest in hockey and the US hockey team, the official page that represents the US hockey team was chosen.

In conclusion microblogging is very different from regular blogging because it forces the writer to be specific in what they’re trying to say. With a platform such as Twitter the capacity of having 280 characters limit causes the writer to actually revise what they tweet to get their point across. This differentiates Twitter from any other social media accounts when it comes to blogging because it causes the writer to get straight to the point while also providing hyperlinks and pictures for sources as well. For example, on Instagram a person can make a post about a topic but cannot add a hyperlink to it only an image and a caption. Tumblr is also very picture based social media platform, because of this many people tend to not read the captions that may be attached to those images. Snapchat is an app where anything that is posted will disappear after 24 hours, therefore, in cases of emergency many people many not be able to see the snap within 24 hours it is posed, a tweet made on Twitter will remain in the account unless it is deleted by the user.
